PowerPoint-Movies and Sounds

PowerPoint will accept a wide variety of video formats. Here are the types of video that will work:

.avi, .wmv, mpeg.

Video sources:

You can create your own video with a digital video camera. The web also offers a variety of sources of video. To save a video right-click on the link and choose "Save Target As". Here are some of my favorites:

www.altavista.com/video

www.alltheweb.com/video

Prelinger Archive - vast resource for open-source videos and clips.

What about Google Video or YouTube? Great sources of video clips that you can't (easily) download and install into a PowerPoint presentation.

How to insert a movie or sound:

1. Find the slide that will hold the video or sound.

2. Click on Insert>Movies and Sounds.

3. If you are inserting a movie you will be asked if you want to movie to play automatically or when you click the clip. Your choice. If you want the slideshow to run automatically then your clip should start automatically as well.

4. You can resize your movie to fill the slide at this point.
