My Web Site

In this assignment you will create your customized home-page. You will use either DreamWeaver or PageMill.
READ THE ENTIRE ASSIGNMENT FIRST.

1. Begin by creating a folder on your I: drive called mywebsite as all one word. Save all of your files related to this assignment into this folder. Create a folder within this folder called images.

2. Create a home page. Create a menu of links in a table. You should have the following links in your menu:
-about me.
-favorite music OR favorite food.

-link to your email address.

Save this page as index.

3. Create a page about you. Include the following items:.
-a photo of your birthplace (try images.google.com). It could be any photo of the location - you choose.

-a map of your birthplace (try mapquest.com).

Save this page as about.

4. Choose either favorite music or favorite food as the subject of this page. List your top three choices for either category. Organize the top three into a table with two column and three rows. For each item:
- find a website that is relevant to your first, second or third choice and create a link to that site.
-insert an image next to each link that shows a picture of your favorite (this will be easier if you create a table with two columns and three rows).

Save this page as food or music.

5. Link all the pages and sections together. Check your links on each page.

6. Preview your site in a browser. After you have proofread your website print out each page. Staple and turn them in to me.

7. IF you are done with items one through five, consider the following extras for extra credit:
-add a food or music page (whichever one you didn't choose above).
-a page of links to your favorite websites.

Include these items on each page of your site.

-a menu of links to the other pages in your site. Create these links in a table.
-a date of creation at the bottom, center of each page.
-a solid color background or a background image. You can find some good background images by clicking here.

Backgroundcity.com is another great source.
