Citing Online Resources - added September 12, 2002

Online resources must be cited just as carefully as their print counterparts. Given the everchanging nature of the web, the date that the resource is viewed is of special importance. Here is an example of the proper format. Pay close attention to the punctuation:

Author's last name, First name Middle Initial., "The Title of the Article or Page (in quotes)" Full Title of Page or Organization (in italics). Date that the document was created. http://thewholeurl.com/everything (put the date viewed here).

Hints:
-look for the author's name in the About or Contact us/me sections of the website. Sometimes, the author's name can be found at the bottom of the page. No author's name? It is acceptable to state "Author unknown" in the place of the author's name.
-The title is found on the top of the browser window in the upper left hand corner.
-Look on the site's home page to find the full title of the page or organization.
-Look for the date the document was created on the bottom of the page. You may find only the year - that will work.

Example: If you looked at this page on Septmber 15, 2002 you would create the following citation:

Milstead, Rod "Citing Online Resources", Introduction to Computers. 12 Sept. 2002. http://rodmilstead.com/intro/research/citation.htm (15 Sept. 2002).
