Technology: Past, Present and Future
due Thursday, June 7th

Monday, June 4: please email your topic of choice to me at rod@rodmilstead.com by the end of class.

Your mission is to research an example of today's technology. First off, don't think of technology as something that has a screen and a keyboard. A hammer and a satellite are both good examples of technology.

On the right is a list of technologies or activities that use a form of technology. Choose a topic from this list or develop a topic of your own.

Your essay should address the following points:

-describe the technology and how it works.
-what is the need for this technology?
-how was this technology invented OR what did it replace and why?
-how is the technology used TODAY?
-how will this technology change in 10 or more years?
-what is your interest in this technology?

Example: Palm Pilot
-replaces the paper calendar, address book, to-do list and works as a portable computer.
-the first attempt at a device like the Palm Pilot was called the Apple Newton.
-future Palm Pilots will allow easy access to the the Internet, email, phone and have the power of a notebook computer in a smaller package.
